- As part of his measures against drugs, Indonesia President Joko Widodo has expressed his commitment to increasing the number of executions. He had reported that foreigners from Nigeria and Zimbabwe are on the list of convicts but no Europeans. During 2015, Indonesian authorities reported the execution of 14 people, mostly foreign drug traffickers.
- Official from Bolivia’s Chemical Substances Investigation Group (GISUQ) have announced the seizure of 597, 134 kg of solid and 1.1 million litres of liquid cocaine precursors. The head of GISUQ, Col. Eduardo Claura, has pointed out that most of the cocaine precursors found in Bolivia come from Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Chile and to a lesser extent from Paraguay.
- Bolivia and Uruguay are about to implement new legal frameworks for countering drug trafficking. These actions reflect a trend of Latin American countries reassessing anti-drug policies; however it is important to notice these drug policy reforms are proposed for different reasons. In the case of Bolivia, it looks to make a distinction between coca cultivation and cocaine production and trafficking. Conversely, Uruguay has formally introduced to parliament a plan to combat drug trafficking and organised crime.
- The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has released the latest version of the Peru Coca Crop Monitoring Survey. It has been reported that the cultivation areas have decreased from 42,900 hectares to 40,300 hectares.
