12/10/2020 – During an operation at the port of Tema, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority seized 436 pistols, ammunition and pepper spray.
13/10/2020 – Dutch law enforcement authorities dismantled an illegal factory producing cigarettes. They seized 3.6 million cigarettes, 32,000kg of tobacco and arrested 13 suspects.
13/10/2020 – 250kg of cocaine was seized in the port of Barcelona in Spain. The drugs were hidden in a container transporting coffee that emanated from Honduras via Dominican Republic.
12/10/2020 – National authorities in El Salvador seized 1.5 tonne of cocaine at various locations across the country. The drugs were allegedly destined for Guatemala and were seized in two trucks that had travelled from Nicaragua.
14/10/2020 – 31 illegal airstrips have been destroyed in Honduras so far this year. Guatemalan authorities have destroyed 15 illegal airstrips and captured 20 planes. Reflecting on the high volumes of cocaine seized, the figures suggest that moving cocaine via aerial routes in Central America remains a preferred trafficking method.
15/10/2020 – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced the record seizure of a tonne of methamphetamines in the suburb of Los Angeles. The street value is estimated at USD 7million.
16/10/2020 – Hong Kong customs intercepted an illegal shipment of 10 tonnes of rare wood, the legitimate trade of which is strictly regulated. The shipment, emanating from the middle east, was destined for mainland China. Rare wood is frequently used for the manufacturing of luxury furniture.
17/10/2020 – 522 kg of cocaine was seized in Sydney, Australia, in a shipment of banana pulp that had left from Brazil. One suspect was arrested in connection with this discovery.
