05/10/2020 – The Spanish Police arrested 14 members of the clan “los Kikos” in an operation codenamed ‘Maiz’. The clan was allegedly controlling illicit trafficking activities and the local drugs trade in Cañada Real, a poor area in Madrid. The operation saw the seizure of 18 firearms, ammunition, cash as well as heroin and cocaine. Within the framework of the same operation, simultaneous raids in other areas of Madrid and Castilla La Mancha led to the seizure of equipment used for drug manufacturing, including a hydraulic press.
05/10/2020 – Ecuadorian and Colombian law enforcement authorities led a joint operation at the border between Ecuador and Colombia that led to the destruction of an illicit cocaine laboratory belonging to the Grupo Armado Organizado Residual (GAOR). This illegal facility was processing about four tonnes of cocaine per month. The laboratory was located in Tobar Donoso in Ecuador, was only accessible by air.
07/10/2020 – Although quite uncommon in Belize, about 3kg (7,8 pounds) of heroin, hidden under a spare tyre, was seized during a vehicle search by police officers at a gas station. Four Belizean citizens and one Guatemalan citizen were arrested.
