SEACOP officers and partners from Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean met in Natal, Brazil on November 27, 28 and 29. It was the first time that professionals from the Maritime Intelligence Units (MIU) had exchanged experience and good practice at a trans-regional level. During the workshop, the participants reviewed recent MIU led cases involving drug seizures at sea. Moreover, the workshop gave the different teams an opportunity to increase networking through simulation of real investigations. Finally, the participants shared the achievements of SEACOP in combating drug trafficking at sea. During the workshop, agencies and projects sharing SEACOP’s mandate of tackling drug trafficking and its criminal network participated to display their own methodologies and good practices. The ambition was to seek complementarity within the teams trained by SEACOP in Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean.
