13/09 The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted more than 24,311 kilos of different hard drugs at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MIIA), Ikeja and the Tin-Can Seaport, Apapa, Lagos respectively. The substances were suspected to be heroin, codeine, Arizona and Colorado variants of cannabis.
13/09 Colombian Defence Minister announces seizure of major batch of cocaine worth $80 million. According to Defence Minister Diego Molano Aponte, Colombian officials have reported the seizure of the largest amount of cocaine since the start of the year.
14/09 South Africa has made a rapid succession of large cocaine seizures in recent months, illuminating how the country and region now play a significant role as transit points for Latin American cocaine. The largest such seizure came in August when police found one ton of cocaine in a shipping container at the port of Durban, sub-Saharan Africa’s largest seaport, that had arrived from Brazil’s port of Santos.

The drugs were valued at 301 million euros, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said. The sea container with the shipment was destined for a business in Poland.

19/09 Indian authorities seized over $20 million of heroin and detained seven Iranian men in a deep-sea drug bust off the country’s western coast, officials said Sunday. Officials intercepted messages sent to the boat’s crew and apprehended the vessel — travelling from Iran to Sri Lanka — 180 nautical miles off the coast of Gujarat, the state’s anti-terror squad chief, Himanshu Shukla, told AFP.
