Last week, the Maritime Intelligence Unit of Peru -created and trained by SEACOP- coordinated the inspection of a high board vessel after receiving an alert from the Colombian National Police.
Although no narcotic substance was found, the operation demonstrated the importance of the joint work of all Peruvian forces, namely SUNAT, Policia Nacional DIRANDRO, Marina de Guerra, Autoridad Portuaria Nacional – Perú and Ministerio Publico.
SEACOP’s strategy in Latin America is to strengthen the exchange of information between countries in the region and to improve international cooperation in the fight against illicit maritime trafficking.
Both Peru and the Colombian National Police are key partners in the SEACOP project.
