On 11th July 2024, the EU-ACT II Project and the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) held a working session to discuss collaboration for a strategic synthetic drugs assessment in the Middle East and North Africa as well as further cooperation, including formalising the participation of EUDA in the framework of EU-ACT II and vice versa.
Meetings with Spanish stakeholders such as the National Plan on Drugs and the Centre for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO by its Spanish acronym) also took place to explore synergies and complementarities.
This session allowed to review the proposed content, structure and geographical coverage of the proposed “Strategic assessment of synthetic drugs along the Southern Route and North Africa region” as well as how to promote the Early Warning Systems (EWS) in partner countries covered by the assessment. The meeting also addressed other areas of ongoing engagement of EU-ACT 2, notably regional observatories.
