The SEACOP Special Response Group in the South Atlantic tops the headlines again by successfully preventing the arrival of a major drug shipment to Europe, with simultaneous operations in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Earlier this month, SEACOP and the COLIBRI project set up an Operational Coordination Centre in Montevideo, where they supervised an unprecedented simultaneous joint operation in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
In just 72 hours, numerous inspections and joint operational controls were conducted while vast amounts of intelligence were gathered in the maritime, river, port, air, and land domains.
- Seizure of 1 ton of CHC and half a ton of marijuana in Brazil
- Interdiction of a tugboat with its barges
- Administrative sanctions in Argentina
- And a large amount of intelligence currently being analyzed with important operational results expected.
Warm thanks and congratulations to all partners involved from Argentina (Federal Police, ARCA & Prefectura Naval Argentina), Uruguay (National Police, Air Force, Naval Prefecture, and Customs), Brazil (Federal Police), Paraguay (SENAD), Spain (National Police), Global Illicit Flows Programme Colibri project, Eurofront, EMPACT, Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre (Narcotics) – MAOC (N), and the Red de Fiscales Iberoamericanas Antidroga.
All of this had been in preparation since last October with various planning meetings to establish the strategy.
