Earlier this month, SEACOP provided training assistance to the RSS’ Maritime Operations Planning Course (MOPC), held in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Targeted at Junior Commissioned Officers and Senior Ratings from the RSS Member States’ Coast Guards and Marine Police Units, this course aims to equip them with the tools to plan and execute maritime operations within RSS Member States’ areas of operation.
SEACOP’s Deputy Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean, Alexander Kellman, delivered instruction in Maritime Operations, with specific emphasis on:
- Existing and emerging maritime security threats, including transnational organized crime
- Information superiority
- Respect for international maritime law and human rights
All eight RSS Member States—Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines—are also SEACOP partner countries.
The RSS has been a strategic partner of SEACOP in the region, with a bilateral MOU signed in August 2023 and numerous areas of collaboration ongoing.
Congratulations to all involved!
