21/12 – Law enforcement authorities from 15 EU Member States and the UK dismantled a major black market cigarettes racket.
21/12 – Operation KAFO II (30 November – 6 December), coordinated jointly by INTERPOL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), targeted firearms trafficking in West Africa and the Sahel. It resulted in seizures of illicit firearms, ammunition and explosives, as well as drugs and contraband fuel and disrupted trafficking networks used to supply terrorists across West Africa and the Sahel.
22/12 – The Global Firearms Programme of UNODC provided an online training to Paraguay authorities to improve their capacities to investigate and prosecute firearms trafficking and related crimes, and coordinated by Paraguay’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
22/12 – German law enforcement of the Reutlingen Police Headquarters, together with Europol and law enforcement agencies from around the world, took down the virtual private network (VPN) Safe-Inet used by the world’s foremost cybercriminals.
23/12 – Europol and Eurojust signed new contribution agreement expanding cooperation on the SIRIUS project. This project aims to support law enforcement and judicial authorities with cross-border access to electronic evidence.
