AIRCOP, a component project within the Cocaine Route Programme along with CRIMJUST and SEACOP, is led by UNODC in partnership with Interpol and the World Customs Organisation. AIRCOP operates in 31 countries, covering 35 airports.
The 6th Global AIRCOP meeting was held between 11-13 February 2019 at Interpol HQ, Lyon, France. This is event marked a major milestone in AIRCOP implementation and brought together the key project stakeholders to take stock of project related achievements and to discuss the way forward.
AIRCOP was directly involved in the following seizures that took place between March 2010 and January 2019, the results serve to demonstrate and underpin the relevance and importance of all AIRCOP project activity:
- 6 tonnes of cocaine
- 3 tonnes of methamphetamine
- 4 tonnes of falsified medicines
- 423 kg of heroin
- Seizures related to wildlife crime, human trafficking, illicit currency trafficking and firearms trafficking
