From 17 to 21 June, AIRCOP organised a regional training on fraudulent documents at airports in Saly, Senegal. The training focused on human trafficking and migrant smuggling. It was delivered by a high specialist on fraudulent documents from the French Police.
This event brought together 12 officers from 9 Joint Airport Interdiction Task Forces (JAITFs) from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. Two Senegalese representatives as well as officers from the JAITFs in Cabo Verde and Guinea Bissau attended the regional training.
This training was organised by AIRCOP in partnership with other UNODC projects. It provided participants with high-level quality technical training on fraudulent documents detection at airports. The EU-funded ECOWAS Regional Action Plan on Illicit drug trafficking, organised crime related to it and drug abuse in West Africa, also provided detection material to the participants.
The closing ceremony was chaired by the Head of the Central Office for the repression of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics.
