From 24 to 28 of October, UNODC delivered an induction training for the new AIRCOP Joint Airport Interdiction Task Force (JAITF) at the international Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito.
This training addressed a range of operational and thematic aspects of the day-to-day work of AIRCOP JAITFs, as well as cross-cutting issues like Ethics, Integrity, Gender and Human Rights, all of which are fundamental aspects for the effective implementation of the JAITFs duties on the ground.
Following this training, from 7 to 11 (Lima, Peru) and from 14 to 18 of November, AIRCOP delivered back to back mentorships to the long standing AIRCOP JAITF in Argentina, as well as to Peru’s Special Antinarcotics Task Force (GETAA) to reinforce their skills to combat transnational organized crime at airports.
These mentorships covered several key areas including: Fraudulent and False Documents, analysis of advance passenger information, new trafficking trends, concealment methods, interdiction and passenger interview.
