On the last week of September 2022, SEACOP delivered a one-week training to the Joint Maritime Control Unit of Anguilla, targeting a total of 9 officers -two of which were women- from Police and Customs.
Established in 2016, the country’s JMCU has received annual mentoring sessions from SEACOP until 2019.
Cross-fertilisation was at the heart of this training, which was delivered by instructors from the Jamaica Defence Force Coastguard.
The training was also supported by Anguilla’s MIU team, which took part in the regional training delivered in Barbados in May 2022.
In parallel of the training, Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean, karen clarke, conducted a number of meetings with the Commissioner of Police, the Controller of Customs and representatives from the Governors office.
