Snippets of the closing ceremony of the ship search mentorship held in Freetown, Sierra Leone last week by SEACOP.
Presided over by the Deputy National Security Coordinator in the presence of Mr. Holger Comment, representing the European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone and the SEACOP Deputy Regional Coordinator for Africa, Mr. Akizi-Egnim AKALA.
In his opening speech, Mr Holger urged the authorities of Sierra Leone to take the necessary measures to allow the SEACOP team to have access to the vessels for routine searches, emphasising the importance of collaborating to strengthen the regional fight against illicit maritime trafficking.
The mentorship benefited 10 personnel from the immigration, police, national drug law enfoncement agency, central intelligence unit, office national security and maritime authority units, who form the SEACOP Joint Maritime Control unit.
The weeklong activity was facilitated by the head of the JMCU takoradi of Ghana, Mr. Gabriel Atoh ANNAN. During the sessions, he shared his lifelong experience of ship rummage and best practices.
