From 16 to 20 September 2024, COLIBRI officially launched its Tutoring and Mentoring Cycle of Courses in Accra, Ghana. This initiative is the first in a series of training programmes designed to strengthen the capacity of government officials and partners to monitor, analyse, and control general aviation (GA) activities. The programme provides participants with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and tools to enhance risk analysis and the use of IT platforms for intelligence gathering and data sharing, with a particular focus on high-risk flights.
The launch in Ghana included practical exercises to verify the application of techniques outlined in the COLIBRI Manual and assess participants’ training levels. It also fostered systematic data sharing and inter-agency collaboration, critical to improving risk assessment capabilities. Participants explored case studies and real-world scenarios to better understand the threats linked to GA and adopt effective, coordinated strategies for mitigating them. This cycle will now be implemented in other COLIBRI partner countries, reinforcing efforts to build capacity regionally and globally.
By expanding the reach of the Tutoring and Mentoring Cycle, COLIBRI reaffirms its commitment to empowering national authorities and strengthening international cooperation. This comprehensive approach supports the fight against transnational crime, ensuring a more secure and coordinated response to illicit activities in the GA sector.
