In November 2024, the COLIBRI Project organised two pivotal transregional meetings aimed at enhancing the skills and self-reliance of trainers and expert trainers across its partner countries. These initiatives underscore COLIBRI’s dedication to building sustainable capacities in monitoring and controlling general aviation activities.
The Train the Trainers meeting, held from 6 to 8 November 2024, gathered 19 participants from 17 partner countries. Its primary objective was to equip future trainers with the knowledge and tools needed to independently address challenges in using COLIBRI systems. The meeting also provided updates on the COLIBRI Project and the Geoportal, fostered the integration of OSINT tools with the Geoportal, and facilitated the sharing of experiences and best practices in training delivery.
The Pre-Accreditation Workshop, conducted from 11 to 15 November 2024 at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, targeted “Expert Trainer” profiles. Twelve participants from 11 partner countries took part in this workshop. Expert Trainers are expected to guide, supervise, and deliver high-quality training sessions to their colleagues, both within their administrations and internationally.
The workshop aimed to expand the pool of highly skilled WCO expert trainers capable of organising and delivering capacity-building activities based on international standards and best practices. The Pre-Accreditation process focused on candidates with specialised knowledge in the aviation sector (security, border control, clearance, etc.) and proven experience in roles such as trainers or mentors.
