From 22 to 26 August 2022, Brazilian and Cape Verdean law enforcement agencies gathered in Brasilia, Brazil, to attend the Fourth Train-the-Trainers course on the use of the Geoportal and the CENcomm. The event linked the action’s two regions: Latin America and West and Central Africa. It was an excellent opportunity to reinforce the relationship and communication exchange among the participating administrations, strengthening the cooperation in fighting transnational organised crime.
The 5-day training enabled the 27 participants from Customs, Police, Air Force, Civil Aviation and Intelligence Services to get acquainted with the Project’s mapping and information-sharing tools to pass the same knowledge to their colleagues at the national level.
The Regional Training was opened by the Undersecretary of Customs of Brazil, Mr. Jackson Aluir Corbari; the Superintendent of Fiscal Action of the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil, Mr. Cláudio Beschizza Ianelli; the Director of the National Intelligence Center of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency, Mr. Tarcísio Lima Santos Franco; and Mr. Jose Carbayeda, Regional Security Advisor of the EU Delegation, on behalf of the Ambassador of the European Union to Brazil, who also closed the 5-day training along with Ms. Karen Fujimoto, Head of the General Coordination to Combat Smuggling and Illegal Trafficking of the Federal Revenue of Brazil.
