In a significant step towards strengthening the fight against illicit trafficking through general aviation, the JAITF of Togo participated in an intensive training session organised by the COLIBRI project from April 22-26 in Lomé. This training, attended by 40 law enforcement agents, including three key JAITF officials, took place over several days and was a testament to the robust and enduring collaboration between the Airport Communication Programme (AIRCOP) and the COLIBRI project.
The training was led by seasoned experts from AIRCOP, including specialists from Ivorian and French customs. Their expertise provided invaluable insights into the complexities of general aviation and its exploitation by transnational organised crime networks. The involvement of these experts underscored the added value of the long-lasting partnership between AIRCOP and COLIBRI, which has consistently leveraged a shared network of professionals to deliver comprehensive and effective training programs. By extending COLIBRI training to JAITFs, the collaboration ensured that participants could benefit from a wealth of shared knowledge and experience. This networked approach is instrumental in creating a cohesive and well-informed community of practice that can respond swiftly and effectively to the challenges posed by illicit trafficking in general aviation.
