From 14 to 18 November 2022, AIRCOP organised training sessions for the 15 new officers of the Joint Airport Interdiction Task Force (JAITF) of Accra’s international airport. This training was provided by the head of the JAITF of Banjul (The Gambia) and an officer from the JAITF of Lagos (Nigeria), both identified for their expertise and training capacities. They taught new officers how to target high-risk passengers, mail and cargo at the airport, based on an intelligence-based approach. The modus operandi and concealment methods of criminals will also be shared, focusing on law enforcement methodology for seizures and interceptions. The training ended with an organically improvised role play, showing the participants’ involvement in the trainers’ curricula.
