“Impact against the Cocaine Axis in the Caribbean”– This was the topic of the recent international seminar organised by SEACOP VI in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Last week (20-22 February 2024), SEACOP held a maritime intelligence seminar aiming to strengthen intelligence gathering in the maritime environment, build knowledge of the existing threats and exchange good practices in the combat against the criminal organisations currently operating.
Attended by various local institutions involved in the fight against drug trafficking, the workshop also involved representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office. “It is essential for prosecutors to participate in these experience exchanges in order to obtain intelligence, establish international cooperation and design well-rounded investigations during joint operations against organised criminal groups,” explained SEACOP Regional Coordinator Alfredo Diaz Sanchez.
The seminar was delivered by trainers from the Spanish National Police, the Colombian National Police and the Argentinean Naval Prefecture, all specialists of the fight against illicit trafficking at sea.
👏🏽 SEACOP would like to thank the Dominican Republic Navy for its support to the event, as well as the EU Delegation to DR and the National Drug Council of the Dominican Republic.
Their continuous support to SEACOP and participation in the sessions have been greatly valuable.
