From 5 to 7 June, in Asunción, 🇵🇾 SEACOP launched a unique trans-regional initiative aimed at strengthening joint operations between the Americas and Africa named GRES-ATLANTICO SUR.
Why is this initiative special?
Announced in the presence local authorities, Naval Prefectures of Argentina and Uruguay, and Federal Police of Brazil, this strategy will provide a special maritime-river response to support the fight against drug trafficking and organised crime. Spanning from the Paraná Waterway to the exit to the Atlantic Ocean, it will establish a comprehensive, methodological and 360º vision strategy with a clear projection of international cooperation.
GRES-ATLANTICO SUR will include the creation of a working group between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to obtain prior information in the entire maritime-river domain and convert it into operational intelligence to be able to carry out joint operations, all with a clear focus on international cooperation.
Who is involved?
SEACOP received the valuable support of European partners such as MAOC-N, the Spanish National Police, EU-funded projects such as COLIBRI, EUROFRONT and the EMPACT initiative. The Network of Anti-Drug Prosecutors of Ibero-America, as well as our international strategic partners such as the DEA Office and CBP-CSI from the USA were also involved.
Special thanks to the National Anti-Drug Secretariat -SENAD- of Paraguay for its invaluable support in the organisation of this event!
