21.03.23 – Six drug traffickers bag 156 years imprisonment in Lagos, Ogun. The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos and Ogun state has sentenced six drug traffickers to a total of 156 years imprisonment for offenses bordering on drug dealing, transportation, and conspiracy to transport illicit substances filed against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
21.03.23 – Gold shipment forfeited after NCA links it to drug cartels. The National Crime Agency has obtained a civil recovery order for gold worth an estimated £4 million that was being laundered by South American drug cartels. NCA financial investigators took up the case after the shipment of gold weighing 104 kilos was seized at Heathrow in June 2019.
22.03.23 – War on gangs forges new El Salvador. But the price is steep. For the family of 44-year-old Maritza Pacheco, opening a corner shop outside their home four months ago was a small miracle. Pacheco had lived like many in El Salvador’s capital: in constant panic. Warring gangs – MS-13 and Barrio 18 – would send gunfire ringing out over flimsy tin-sheet homes, terrorizing and extorting poor communities like hers.
22.03.23 – Is Meta doing enough to fight sex trafficking and exploitation? Few Meta shareholders have filed a lawsuit against CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other executives for not doing enough to stop sex trafficking and child sexual exploitation on Facebook and Instagram. This is not the first time someone has accused Meta of turning a blind eye toward sexual exploitation on its platforms.
24.03.23 – Stolen Rolls Royce and Land Rover found in Erith police raid. A search warrant was executed by officers at a premises which was reportedly linked to organised criminal gangs. The groups target high value motor vehicles which are then broken up and the parts are distributed out.
