03.04.23 – Money laundering couple caught smuggling criminal cash during lockdown. A husband and wife from Hertfordshire who tried to smuggle more than £200,000 out of the UK during the height of the Covid lockdown have been convicted of money laundering. Ardian Sharra, aged 51, and Valbona Laloshi, aged 41, from Tring were investigated by the National Crime Agency after their Mercedes car was stopped at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkestone, Kent, in May 2020.
03.04.23 – 22 firearms traffickers arrested across Europe. In an operation led by Romania and Bulgaria, law enforcement from a total of 31 countries has targeted individuals suspected of purchasing weapons from firearms traffickers. As the procurement of illegal firearms has become increasingly difficult and expensive, individuals and organised crime often resort to converted alarm and signal weapons. These blank-firing pistols have become a weapon of choice for criminals, as certain models have proved to be easily converted to discharge live ammunition.
04.03.23 – Europol supports dismantlement of high-risk drug trafficking network. Europol supported this investigation by delivering extensive analytical support, the establishment of an Operational Task Force, organising operational meetings and providing operational coordination between the involved Member States. It delivered relevant and valuable intelligence that helped to reveal the network, the role of each member, and the dominant position of the high-value target. Lastly, Europol coordinated the action day against the criminal network and deployed an expert with a mobile office.
05.04.23 – Takedown of notorious hacker marketplace selling your identity to criminals. An unprecedented law enforcement operation involving 17 countries has resulted in the takedown of Genesis Market, one of the most dangerous marketplaces selling stolen account credentials to hackers worldwide. As a result of an action day on 4 April, this illegal service was shut down and its infrastructure seized.
10.04.23 – Record 20, 542 arrests by Raj Police against organised crime. The Rajasthan Police made a record arrest of 20542 miscreants under the statewide raids against the organised crime gangs last month due to which the crime rate has dropped by 9 per cent in March month as against that of the last year. Over 5,000 police teams raided around 13,600 hideouts of criminals and arrested 20,542 miscreants in a comprehensive campaign against hardcore criminals, mafia and criminal gangs in the state,” Director General of Police Umesh Mishra told a press conference here on Monday.
