- U.S. Coast Guard seized more than 1.700 kilos of cocaine with an estimated value of $56 million along the Central American coastline. The seizure was part of the international operation Martillo, launched in 2012 and which has so far intercepted about 700 metric tonnes of cocaine.
- A $19 million worth cocaine seizure was carried out by the Northern Division Task Force in Trinidad. The haul was intercepted at Trincity, in northern Trinidad, and led to the arrest of six people.
- New regulations to upgrade EUROPOL’s capacities entered into force in all EU member states. Adopted in May 2016, these regulations reinforce EUROPOL’s structure and its specialised units’ procedures in the fight against terrorism, organised crime, drug trafficking and cybercrime.
