- 102 tons of drugs were seized by Ecuadorean authorities in 2016, as revealed by Ecuador’s Ministry of Interior. In the biggest seizure of the year, about 11.85 tons of cocaine were discovered in a container in the port of Guayaquil, heading to Belgium, informed the Vice Minister of the Interior.
- The 17th Global Programme on Anti-Corruption, Financial Crimes and Asset Recovery in Colombia was recently held by INTERPOL, focusing on combating financial crimes associated with cocaine trafficking in Latin America. Senior investigators from 11 countries in Latin America attended the event.
