- Central American leaders from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras pledged to deepen their collaboration in order to combat organised crime and illegal immigration in the region during the Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America. This commitment falls under the context of the pressure from the U.S which is pushing the Northern Triangle to take more responsibility in order to foster investment and curb illegal immigration to the U.S. The Trump administration is planning to significantly cut U.S. aid to the region in the upcoming years.
- The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized more than 15 tonnes of cocaine and heroin at the Tin-Can and Apapa ports. This represents the single largest seizure of cocaine in Africa and the fifth largest in the world.
- Costa Rican authorities seized about a tonne of cocaine in Sarapiqui, in the north-east of the country. The haul is estimated at US $8 million. Three individuals were arrested.
