- German customs authorities seized 8 tonnes of cocaine with an estimated value of €800 million at Hamburg harbour. The cocaine was from Paraguay and Uruguay and bound to Belgium. This is the largest cocaine seizure in the history of Germany.
- Bolivian police seized a tonne of cocaine worth US$ 10 million in the city of Trinidad, at the frontier with Brazil. The drug was bound to Brazil, major cocaine local market in South Africa and transit point for drugs heading towards Europe.
- Law enforcement bodies from Paraguay dismantled an important network of production and storing of marijuana in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, bordering with Brazil. There, 18 clandestine camps stored more than 24 tonnes of cannabis.
- Violence in Mexico has reached a peak with 234 homicides recorded in June alone, making it the deadliest month in the country for over 20 years. Since the beginning of the year, more than 12.100 homicides were committed, most of them linked to drug cartels.
- Two of the biggest dark-web markets, AlphaBay and Hansa, were shut down in a joint operation carried out by law-enforcement agencies across the world. Since its launch in 2014, AlphaBay traded more than $1 billion worth of goods and services.
- According to Bolivia’s Minister of Government Carlos Romero, Bolivia remains the country with the lowest surface of illegal coca crops in the region, representing no more than 11% of the global surface cultivated across South America. This statement was a response to a new United Nations report showing an increase of coca crops in the country from 20.000 to 23.100 hectares between 2015 and 2016.
