Eighty seizures of drugs and 70 people were arrested during an INTERPOL operation targeting drug trafficking routes from Latin America via Africa to Europe. The operation was realised in collaboration with AIRCOP JAITFs that were able to share information via INTERPOL’s system I-24/7 and CENcomm, WCO’s communication tool.
Argentinian President Macri declared a one-year national public safety emergency in relation to drug trafficking and the consequent increase of violence in the country. According to Macri, drug trafficking is a grave violation to national sovereignity, given the transational character of the organisations dealing with this crime.
Danish authorities seized approximately 310kg of cocaine and arrested six people in Belgium and the Netherlands, allegedly involved in the drug ring. According to the police spokesman, this is the largest cocaine seizure in Denmark‘s history.

These issues have been recently discussed during the regional consultation on drug policy reform in Accra, Ghana.
A Royal Spanish Navy ship has been discovered to transport large quantity of drugs from Colombia through the port of New York to Spain. Two Colombian sailors have been arrested in New York and, and the Spanish authorities discovered approximately 127 kg of cocaine hidden on board when the ship returned to Spain.
