- InSight Crime has reported an investigation by Spanish Police which demonstrates that Juan Manuel Muñoz Luévano, a Mexican citizen, headed a criminal organisation that brought cocaine into Spain via the port of Valencia. Muñoz was accused of money laundering and criminal association.
- The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) will quit the cocaine drug trade as a result of the peace accord with the government. Adam Isaacson, director of the regional security policy programme at the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) argues other violent groups will fill the power vacuum left by the rebel group.
- It has been reported Jean Alain Rodriguez has taken office as new Dominican Republic attorney. According to InSight Crime, the Caribbean has become a strategic hub for drug trafficking; therefore, he faces big challenges such as improving domestic law enforcement system and countering organised crime.
