- Drug-related violence has been on the rise in Mexico since the capture and extradition of drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman. Nineteen people were killed in the northern state of Sinaloa in clashes involving drug cartels and security forces. This is one of the deadliest shootings occurring in the country over the last few months.
- UNODC Southern Africa, in partnership with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), launched a new regional network in Swaziland to counter human trafficking.
