13/07 Cocaine worth $15 million was seized in Puerto Rico, two men arrested, following the interdiction of a go-fast vessel in Mona Passage waters near Mona Island, Puerto Rico. The interdiction resulted from multi-agency efforts in support of U.S. Southern Command’s enhanced counter-narcotics operations in the Western Hemisphere and coordination with the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF).
13/07 Drug cartels were intercepted in three Nigerian states, and 843kg of skunk and cocaine were recovered, following a number of other seizures the previous week. At least seven of the drug kingpins behind the syndicates were arrested in Kogi, Nasarawa, and Benue States.
14/07 Major transnational organized crime network disrupted as two are arrested in Las Vegas after investigations taking place in at least seven countries. The operation lasted 6 years. Special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas field office, Aaron Rouse, said the arrests removed “a cog in the wheel” of South American drug traffickers, as well as Asian and Russian criminal enterprises that stretched around the world.
14/07 5.4 tons of cocaine, worth $185 million were seized in Colombia. Colombia, working alongside counterparts in Panama and the United States intercepted a boat moving drugs allegedly belonging to the Clan del Golfo, Colombia’s largest criminal gang.
15/07 Dutch and Irish authorities seized cocaine disguised as charcoal worth up to $41 million. The drugs were found inside two shipping containers that arrived at the Rotterdam port from South America.
15/07 Bag containing cocaine worth €9 million was dropped from a plane on a house’s roof in Sardinia. After investigation, the pilot was identified and arrested. He is suspected to have transported the drugs from Rome. Police are still searching for the traffickers who were supposed to catch the bag.
16/07 Dutch Customs find €225m of cocaine hidden inside a shipment of banana puree. Authorities report that “the narcotics were hidden in a container from Ecuador and loaded with barrels of banana puree. The container was destined for a company in Basel, Switzerland”.
18/07 4.3 tons of Colombian cocaine seized by Costa Rican authorities. The drugs were originating from Colombia, as Costa Rica fears it become an important transit country for Colombian drugs heading toward Europe.
