21/03 CRIMJUST organised its first capacity-building on “Cyber Elements of Drug Trafficking Investigations” under the framework of its new INL-funded project in West Africa. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held a training on “Cyber Elements of Drug Trafficking Investigations”, in Cotonou, Benin for law enforcement officers from the Republican Police of Benin and from the Gendarmerie of Togo.
22/03 Fight against transnational organized crime (TOC) in West Africa: ECOWAS is partnering with civil society on developing and delivering effective responses to threats in the region. Decisive efforts are needed by Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) member states, the ECOWAS Commission and civil society to deal with the root causes of organised crime, enhance service delivery and support law enforcement agencies. Resolute actions against money laundering and corruption, which enable these illicit markets, are also vital.
23/03 Crackdown on human traffickers in France and Romania. The French National Police (Police Nationale), the Romanian Police (Poliția Română) and the Spanish National Police (Policía Nacional), supported by Europol and Eurojust, dismantled a criminal network involved in human trafficking for sexual exploitation. For the purposes of this investigation, Europol established an operational task force which led to the identification of the leader of the criminal gang. He was also recognised as a high-value target for this investigation.
24/03 Expansion of drug trafficking in Argentic since Covid-19. This article examines the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on drug-related crime and violence in Argentina. Drug trafficking in Argentina has found a profitable situation for its expansion in various parts of the country since the beginning of the global pandemic.
25/03 FIREARMS held its training on risk-indicators for detection of firearms in Bosnia and Herzegovina . UNODC through its Global Firearms Programme has organized in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), a training on risk-indicators for detection of firearms, their parts and components and ammunition in fast and postal parcels for officials from Hrvatska Posta Mostar, BH Posta, Srpske Poste and BiH Customs.
26/03 Colombia Strengthens Fight Against Narcotrafficking-Driven Environmental Devastation. The U.S. and Spanish governments are supporting Colombia’s efforts to curb deforestation and environmental crimes driven by narcotrafficking and organized crime.
