“Regional Round-Up”: New SEACOP Series to Strengthen Maritime Security Collaboration in the Caribbean
Pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative in the SEACOP VI Caribbean region!
Our Regional Coordinator Jason Kelshall and Deputy Regional Coordinator Alexander Kellman recently hosted the inaugural session of the Regional Round-Up series, a new initiative aimed at fostering deeper cooperation and shared situational awareness within the Caribbean’s maritime domain.
This monthly series will serve as a vital platform to:
- Enhance collective awareness of the evolving maritime security landscape across the Caribbean.
- Facilitate intra-regional information sharing on emerging tactics used by criminal actors.
- Highlight individual state successes and the ongoing efforts to combat maritime crime.
- Offer opportunities for virtual mentorship and knowledge exchange within the SEACOP team.
Representatives from Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts-Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, and the CARICOM IMPACS participated in the session.
Throughout the discussions, participants engaged in valuable insights on current challenges, tactics, and emerging trends in maritime drug trafficking.
As the issues faced are shared across the region, the need for enhanced cooperation and coordination in the face of limited resources is ever so relevant! With SEACOP support, we hope to build stronger, more resilient maritime security frameworks for the Caribbean.
