Team Leader of SEACOP Dominique Bucas and Regional Coordinator for West Africa Eric Wiart conducted a field visit of the COSMAR (Operational Centre for Maritime Surveillance) of Praia.
Later on, they organised a national steering committee in the presence of the Director of the Judicial Police and representatives of the EU Delegation.
The NSC brought together various agencies involved in the fight against illicit maritime trafficking.
Discussions revolved around the forthcoming signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between SEACOP and Cape Verde, the scheduled training of the Joint Maritime Control Unit and Maritime Intelligence Unit, and future #cooperation perspectives.
In parallel to this committee, a large seizure of 4.6 tons of cocaine was conducted in Cape Verde, as a result of the efficient international and inter-agency cooperation, illustrating the relevance of the SEACOP project.
