Last week, SEACOP and high level political authorities of #Ecuador 🇪🇨 gathered in Quito for a National Steering Committee on maritime security.
During meetings held at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Quito, representatives of local authorities, the EU Delegation in the country, the Spanish and the US Embassies discussed further cooperation on the fight against illicit maritime trafficking.
On behalf of the security forces, the highest representatives of Customs-SENAE-, the National Police and the National Navy -attended.
During the event, SEACOP presented the Maritime threat assessment of illicit flows across the Atlantic Report which was jointly produced by SEACOP and MASIF, under the umbrella programme Global Illicit Flows Programme of the EU.
SEACOP Project Director Dominique Bucas outlined the potential to carry out this assessment in Ecuador, as a result of the conclusions established last December at the Pacific-Atlantic Alliance Meeting: Integral Strategy to combat illicit maritime trafficking.
