Last week, SEACOP Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean Karen Clarke kicked off a series of outreach visits to partner countries of the region, starting with Jamaica on 22-25 November 2021.
She met with a number of key local stakeholders, namely Jamaica Constabulary Force, Jamaica Customs Agency and Jamaica Defence Force – Coastguard, to discuss further engagement of SEACOP with the country.
In addition, she held discussions with the JDF Caribbean Military Training Academy regarding support to SEACOP with expert trainers, and took part in the First National Steering Committee held with the Ministry of National Security and relevant agencies.
SEACOP training courses in the Caribbean are expected to resume in January 2022, with the very first activity scheduled in Jamaica.
The successful visit was commended by French Ambassador HE Olivier Guyonvarch, as well as EU Delegation Charge d’Affaires Fredrik Ekfeldt and Commander Alvin Gayle from Jamaica’s Coastguard.
