Last week, from 21 to 25 November 2022, SEACOP organised a course on maritime intelligence in the city of Montevideo, in Uruguay.
Uruguay constitutes a brand partner country of SEACOP, which joined under the fifth phase of the project, launched in May 2021.
The training took place in the facilities of the Uruguayan Naval Prefecture and targeted 15 officers of the National Police, Prefecture and General Directorate of Customs.
Theoretical and practical training were carried out with the aim of providing local officials with all possible tools to obtain intelligence in the maritime domain, with a clear focus on international cooperation.
Experts from the Colombian Navy and the Prefectura Naval de Argentina also participated in the training.
The closing ceremony of the course took place on Friday 25th of November, in the presence of Minister of Defence of Uruguay Mr. Javier García, Ambassador of the European Union Mr. Paolo Berizzi, Commander General of the Navy Mr. Jorge Wilson and the National Naval Prefect Rear Admiral Jose Luis Elizondo.
