SEACOP in Guyana 🇬🇾 this week!
At the first National Steering Committee held in Guyana, SEACOP Team Leader Dominique Bucas and Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean Karen Clarke can be seen pictured with Hon. Robeson Benn, Minister of Home Affairs of Guyana and H.E. Fernando Ponz Canto, Ambassador of the European Union.
A number of high level representatives took part in the meeting, from all law enforcement administrations of the country. Discussions between the SEACOP team and Guyana counterparts covered the resumption of activities following COVID-19, a Memorandum of Understanding with the country, as well as the tentative starting date of future capacity building training (scheduled for Spring 2022).
Bilateral meetings were also held with the Head of Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU), to reinforce future cooperation on the fight against illicit maritime trade in the region.
