The SEACOP team is in Jamaica 🇯🇲 this week, attending a number of meetings and finalising the planning of the “Caribe 2023” operation.
Following the National Steering Committee held earlier this week, the team met with a number of local authorities and embassy officials, including the EU and French Ambassadors, with whom they discussed the maritime security situation of the country.
Yesterday and today, the team is participating in meetings aimed at finalising the planning of Operation Caribe 2023, which shall constitute a milestone in the life of SEACOP V. In close coordination with the representatives from Jamaica, Antigua & Barbuda, Grenada, Dominican Republic and Colombia, the team is reviewing the final terms of the operation plan with its partners from MAOC-(N), Frontex, Regional Security SystemCARICOM IMPACS, JIATF-S, French and Dutch law enforcement agencies.
The operation shall take place in the next few months and will contribute to reinforcing the regional collaboration with regard to the fight against illicit maritime trafficking.
