On 30 August 2023, SEACOP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Regional Security System in Barbados to further strengthen the fight against maritime and port trafficking in the Caribbean.
“In light of our long-standing collaboration with the RSS and the complementary nature of our activities, we are pleased to see this partnership officialised today,” said SEACOP Regional Coordinator to the Caribbean Karen Clarke, who noted that the collaboration will seek to improve surveillance, knowledge, technical expertise, and legal preparedness of officers of the RSS and in partner countries of SEACOP.
What will this partnership entail?
- Cooperation in organising training courses related to maritime safety and security.
- Use of RSS Training Institute resources by SEACOP project for training.
- Exchange of course programming forecasts for planning.
This signatures comes within the framework of SEACOP and AIRCOP’s ongoing ‘Air to Sea Passengers’ regional workshop held in Barbados.
