This past week (April 2-5, 2024), SEACOP carried out an important mission in Bogotá, Colombia which has been an enduring partner throughout the years.
“Colombia has played a crucial role since phase V, enhancing our intelligence, analysis, and maritime anti-drug operations across the Americas,” explains SEACOP Regional Coordinator for Latin America Alfredo Diaz. He cites the project’s participation in the Orion Naval Campaign and Operation Tayrona as two examples of our integrated efforts in combating maritime drug trafficking.
Last week, strategic engagements were on the agenda, including visits to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate’s CASOB Room, meetings with top officials from the Intelligence and Anti-Drugs Directorate, and the Centre for International Maritime Research against Drug Trafficking of the Navy. SEACOP also participated in an International Seminar on Maritime Drug Trafficking organised by the Colombian Navy.
“All these engagements show that SEACOP is considered an important partner for strengthening international cooperation in the fight against maritime trafficking in the country,” partners noted.
