Earlier this week, nearly 500 kilograms of cocaine destined for #Europe were seized in Panama, thanks to the long standing multi-dimensional support provided by SEACOP.
The successful anti-drug operation started with information obtained by the newly formed Ecuadorian Maritime Intelligence Unit, inaugurated in collaboration with SEACOP this year.
Coordinated by SEACOP at the transregional level, the operation benefited from the high level of expertise of the MIU team in Ecuador, which received a SEACOP-led training in February. In collaboration with SEACOP’s Regional Coordinator for Latin America, the POLICIA NACIONAL DE COLOMBIA, specifically the Head the “Center Room” trained by SEACOP in previous phases, and the SENAN of Panama, contributed to the seizure.
This operation benefited from the crucial interagency cooperation of the European Agency Frontex, various law enforcement institutions of Ecuador, the Intelligence Directorate of the Ecuadorian Navy, the Colombian National Police-Area of Ports and Airports of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate and SENAN of Panama.
