After two intense weeks of training (8-19 July), future SEACOP instructors from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay are now ready to deliver courses in Maritime Intelligence.
Pedagogical and didactic methodology were exposed to the participants so they can prepare, organise and deliver their own training courses on various maritime domain topics with the support of the maritime intelligence training guide created by SEACOP.
As a result of this important activity, the SEACOP instructors will be working on a protocol of action in maritime intelligence – vessel profiling, operational tracking, maritime interdiction respecting maritime law and focused on international cooperation.
A training schedule has also been planned across Latin America, which will be developed simultaneously in the different countries.
“We are hopeful that both the two-week training and those follow up actions will help sustainably disseminate the knowledge and good practices in their countries and in the staff of their institutions,” noted SEACOP Regional Coordinator for Latin America Alfredo Diaz
SEACOP commends the commitment of all participants, their outstanding willingness to learn and exchange experiences. Particular thanks as well to the Prefectura Naval de Argentina, its Centro de Capacitación en Inteligencia e Investigación Criminal and the Ministerio de Seguridad de la Nacion for their support.
