Nine officers from the Constabulary Force and Customs Agency of Jamaica attended the Joint Maritime Control Unit (JMCU) training course organized within the framework of SEACOP between 25 and 29 September in Port Royal.
The course, delivered by UK Border Force trainers, covered topics such as risk profiling, trafficking routes, targeting, containers, forensics and evidence gathering. The training, which was the last JMCU course to be delivered in the Caribbean region, also included practical exercises on vessel search at Port Royal and Kingston port.
Feedback from beneficiaries was quite positive with participants welcoming SEACOP as a step forward towards a multi-agency approach to tacking organised crime that they consider more effective.
