Straight from Argentina, our Project Director and Regional Coordinator for Latin America were in Brasilia on the week of 18-20 March 2024 to renew the partnership between SEACOP and its partners from Brazil, in the combat against drug trafficking and illegal timber trafficking.
🇧🇷 The trip began with a productive meeting with the Polícia Federal do Brasil, a key player in this shared fight. Dominique Bucas and Alfredo Diaz then continued their mission at the Marinha do Brasil intelligence centre, where in-depth discussions covered strategies for surveillance and protection of territorial waters.
The EU delegation in Brasilia also welcomed our team, providing a platform for sharing updates and considering future cooperation projects, including the development of a Memorandum of Understanding, the exchange of critical information and the organisation of joint training. A visit to the Spanish embassy testified to European unity in this shared mission.
“The aim of these meetings is clear: to forge solid alliances for greater impact,” stated Dominique Bucas. “Our exchanges focused on setting up frameworks for enhanced cooperation, exchanging expertise and planning events centred on the fight against environmental crime, which is a growing threat in the region.”
